if you google that phonegap plugin you will see that no one can make it work, documentation is very poor

It works, I had no trouble, also have newsstand full functionality by creating my own phonegap module. I think a lot of the issues stem from phonegap being renamed to Cordova. Which is where a lot of the documentation is out of date.
