It would be really great if the setMapType() could load an image file as a map.

setMapType()
sets the map type, can take parameters "standard", "satellite", "hybrid", "image"

I'll second that.
Are you using an API to lookup Lat/Long from a street address? If so, can you share any experiences...

I have no idea if that's possible, but I would love it. I'd like to use the map stuff to map out things that are not actual real places.

have to investigate that, I think it's possible with overlay views maybe, not sure though. bump this after 1.9.6
