Syntax highlighting

Postby aitch » Wed Apr 13, 2011 6:53 pm

More of a forum request than a NK feature: could we implement something like GeSHi to highlight code in posts?

It sure would make code much more readable than the generic code tags.

I will look for a way to integrate some good code highlighter, maybe someone willing to hep who did that already on phpbb and has experience? I found old discontinued mod based on GeSHi, but nothing else yet

I think this is the current one

I could do the mod if you wanted. It would only take about 15 min I think.

I saw that one, but it's release date is 14 July 2007, 4 years is kinda old, also I read in the comments that it does not support new versions of phpbb (this forum runs the latest 3.0.8) and is abandoned by author.

Ha, I landed on an even older one first. I totally missed the date on that one.

In any case, have a look at this: http://markettorrent.com/community/view ... =33&t=5885

Using the jquery syntax highlighter, it should be able to parse it on the fly. Which would be even easier.
You wouldn't even need to make a new button because you can target $('.codebox code')
