in 1.9.7 it will be like this:
"yes" - read plist for orientations
"no" - rotation not allowed no matter what's in the plist
not specified - same as yes

at the moment "not specified" is the same as "no", this will be changed

This is new vis a vis older version.

If "yes" means orientation of the .plist only, (say landscape for instance) an "no" no rotation allowed (means only default portrait) how can be allowed change from landscape to portrait and reverse ! .
Could be "not specified" be the ex-possibility of changing the orientation portrait/ landscape following the device rotation. My apps was based on this assigment

in the plist file you may specify all orientations, not just one, so if you want to have landscape and portrait, you choose both in plist and specify "yes" or don't specify at all

you can specify initial interface orientation in plist too, for example:

Code: Select all
   <key>UIInterfaceOrientation</key>
   <string>UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait</string>
   <key>UISupportedInterfaceOrientations</key>
   <array>
      <string>UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft</string>
      <string>UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight</string>
      <string>UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown</string>
      <string>UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait</string>
   </array>

these keys and values specify that the app supports all orientations, but the initial orientation will be portrait

Definitly clear for me.
In Xcode (.infoplist) one can define :

Initial interface orientation --> to define default orientation at launch

supported interface orientation --> to define the various orientation allowed

Thanks Sunny
