I'm curious as to what will happen to the old NK1.x branch. If NK 2.0 does not follow the same "language" as NK1.x (so completely different APIs, programming style / philosophy), why not open up NK1.x for the community (i.e. open source it), for those that want to continue using it or extending it for their own, existing projects. None of our clients would be happy to pay us again to port our projects to the (potentially rather different NK2.0), so it would be good if 1.x could live on an extra few years. I'd potentially have a bunch of code to contribute, Halfmoon certainly has, and so has Francisco. There's certainly enough interest and expertise in terms of maintaining it...
From Sencha's business point of view, It shouldn't be too great competition to NK2 either since NK2, as far as I understand, will aim to have all APIs completely cross-platform compatible. So for new projects, there really will be a clear incentive to go wtih NK2. But again, the question really is also what is going to happen to our legacy projects and commitments we gave to our customers in terms of maintenance...
